The Bartercard Gold Coast Blue Tongues went down to the Canberra Knights 7-5 in the second game of two over the weekend. From all reports the score line did not represent the result with an empty net goal scored with one second to go and two questionable calls on goals five and six.
On goal five the referee called a penalty shot against Blue Tongues defender Ross Howell as he battled within reach of the Canberra player on a partial breakaway. Then on goal six the Knights took advantage of what witnesses say was clearly an off side play. Unfortunately these two calls and the suspension of two Blue Tongue players Mike Mcrae and Tom Letki on the Saturday night game left the Blue Tongues considerably under manned on the Sunday game an unable to hang on to a lead in the third period.
In the goal scoring department, Tobias Falk followed up with his second hat trick in two games on the road, and Matt Amado collected the other two goals for the Blue Tongues. Kane Easterbrook started his second game in a row.

Even with the loss on Sunday, the win on Saturday night kept the sixth placed Blue Tongues within one win of third place Adelaide Adrenaline and forth placed Sydney Ice Dogs.
The Blue Tongues are back on the road this weekend in Sydney with games against the Bears and the Ice Dogs. Followed the following weekend with two games again against the Sydney Ice Dogs. So the next two weekends are great opportunity for the Blue Tongues to solidify their place in the top four.
