Adrenaline Outlast The Blue Tongues

Defense Pair Adam Gebara and Cam Trew win the puck along the boardsAfter the shootout loss to the Adrenaline the previous night, the Blue Tongues faced off against them once more on Sunday. The game started off with the Blue Tongues controlling the puck, putting 15 shots on Adrenaline goaltender Peter King to Adelaide's 8 shots on Gold Coast's Luke Fiveash. Captain Ross Howell drew first blood when he scored with just under 3 minutes into the game, assisted by stalwart Don Burke and import forward Dallas Costanzo. A couple of altercations occurred between Adelaide's Cas Delsar and Gold Coast's Don Burke, both being penalised with just over 5 minutes left in the period. It was roughing penalty called on Cas Delsar that gave the Blue Tongues the man advantage with less than 2 minutes left before the first intermission. The Blue Tongues powerplay showcased their talent once again as Marco Bertossa scored on a pass from Mike McRae and Dallas Costanzo. The Blue Tongues went to the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.

The game went downhill from there, however, when the Adrenaline took control of the game and never gave it back. The Adrenaline put 21 shots on Fiveash in the second period, while the Blue Tongues managed only 5 chances on King. It did take until there were only 49 seconds left in the second period for James Keane of the Adrenaline, assisted by Cas Delsar and Wehebe Darge, to get on the scoreboard. The Blue Tongues still had a 2-1 lead going into the third period.

While the shots on goal were more even for the remainder of the game, it was all Adelaide whose shots on goal were successful - 4 goals from 7 shots on Fiveash. Cameron Dion and Shane Lovdahl each scored a goal, while Wehebe Darge sank 2. The Adrenaline blanked the Blue Tongues in 2 periods to win 5-2 and take 5 of the 6 points on offer this weekend.

The Blue Tongues return home to face the Melbourne Ice on July 3, 2010 at Bundall Iceland and July 4, 2010 at Acacia Ridge IceWorld. Puck drop is at 4pm both days and tickets are available at the door.
